Three rising young Canadian talents have been named the 2018 New Generation Photography Award winners. This is the first year of the award, which was created by Scotiabank and the Canadian Photography Institute of the National Gallery of Canada to support the careers of young artists and to help them reach their infinite potential.
Winners Elisa Julia Gilmour, Meryl McMaster and Deanna Pizzitelli will each receive a $10,000 cash prize, mentorship opportunities and will be featured in two group exhibitions: one at the Canadian Photography Institute PhotoLab at the National Gallery of Canada, April 13 – August 19, 2018, and one in OCAD’s Onsite Gallery during the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival in Toronto in May 12 – June 17 2018.
What makes these three creative Canadians’ work stand out? We ask the international panel of judges why these artists stand out.
